Mother's Day & 10-11 Weeks!

The last two weeks have been eventful to say the least! Last Saturday, Joey's dad Jim and his new wife, Jane got married...yay! It was a great family wedding, and they are a wonderful couple. We are so happy for them. Last Saturday was also Susie's parent's anniversary...34 years! It was fun to celebrate both occasions and know that both of our families are happy, healthy and loved. We are also very thankful that we only have to remember one wedding date for our parents from here on out. ;-)

The next day of course was Mother's Day and we had an incredible day. We were able to do brunch and celebrate in the morning with Joey's side of the family who we don't get to see too often including uncles and aunts from Arlington and California and Grandma Betty and Grandpa Bob from Arizona. At breakfast, Susie was told to sit at the head of the table and Grandma at the other because they were, "The newest and most veteran moms." We were not in the slightest expecting this, and the rest of the day unfolded similarly! In the evening we had a BBQ Susie's parents with her sister and nephews, and
we had a great time laughing, eating and celebrating.

Finally, we capped off the day with a long planned visit to our friend's the Virnig's. Susie met the oldest Virnig daughter, Mackenzie, 4 years ago when she was only 14 and became her Young Life leader. They have always had a special relationship, and over many years, we've gotten to know her parents, Tom and Kathy and her little sisters Macall and Delaney as well. We actually stayed with the girls a few months back while Tom and Kathy got away to Hawaii which was so fun for us! Well, in a conversation about a month ago, Susie slipped to Kathy and told her she was preggo and then swore her to secrecy (which was really mean...sorry Kathy!!!). Well, Kathy and Susie planned a fun night in which Susie and Joey would come over on Mother's Day to say hi, and then Kathy would give Susie a little gift with pink and blue tissue paper and the girls and Tom would slowly realize what was going on. The night went as planned and the girls and Tom were surprised to say the least! It was so fun to begin our "going public" with the news in this way, on Mother's Day, with such special friends. That night we told the rest of our friends and Young Life kids which was so exciting for us!

The Baby Room Pre-Nursery Transformation
We were blessed over the next few days by many cards, texts and well wishes. We also received lots of adorable baby gear that we are so thankful for. I guess when we see those little onesies and bibs it all seems a bit more real. We weren't sure what to do with all of the fun gifts we received, so right now they're sitting in the soon-to-be-transformed-into-a-nursery guest room.

And yes, that is an Office themed Mother's Day card in which Michael Scott talks about Motherhood. Love it.

We are just about finished with week 10 and into week 11, and baby seems to be doing fine...mostly because Susie is still sick which means baby West is continuing to grow and form!

The size of Baby West - a kumquat!
Week 10 Baby West reached an inch long and was the size of a Kumquat...which I couldn't find at the store so no picture, sorry! :) Also on week 10 baby officially became a fetus; no longer an embryo!  On Monday, baby will be 11 weeks and an inch and a half long, the size of a fig and almost fully formed. We're hoping that by 12 weeks the morning sickness will be completely gone, energy will be back and we will get to hear the heartbeat which will be so exciting!

Thanks again to all of you who have celebrated with us and showered us with little gifts to make this just so much more fun and real! Love you all.
